CMS is resuming RAC and MAC audits and other medical reviews.

CMS has lifted its suspension on most Medicare Fee-for-Service reviews.  The restriction was imposed in late March due to COVID-19.  Despite the pandemic’s ongoing effect on healthcare providers, CMS is resuming many audits, including pre- and post-payment reviews conducted by Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs).
Providers should prepare for the expected surge in audits and other oversight measures by improving their current systems and processes without stressing already over-burdened staffs.
Cobius can help. Audit Manager, the leading payer audit management solution, allows you to manage all payer audits – pre-bill and post-bill, government and commercial – in one system.  It automates many labor-intensive steps in the audit process, lightening the load on staff while protecting revenue.
Cobius’ Institutional Audit Manager and Physician Audit Manager automatically identify reimbursement risks – including some related to COVID-19 procedures and to specific auditors, like RACs and the OIG.  Users can then quickly evaluate and address these risks.
